How Much Does Life Coaching Cost? (And What You're Really Paying For)

Most coaches make you book a call before you find out what anything costs. I've never liked that. So here's a transparent breakdown of what life coaching (accountability coaching) typically costs, what affects the price, and what you should expect to get for your money.
What Does Life Coaching Cost on Average?
Life coaching rates in the US range from around $75 to $500 per session depending on the coach's experience, specialty, and location. Monthly coaching packages typically run $250 to $1,500 per month. That's a wide range and it reflects the fact that 'life coaching' covers a lot of ground.
Price alone won't tell you whether a coach is worth it. A $900/month coach who helps you make a career move that adds $45K to your income is cheap. A $100/month coach who makes you feel good but doesn't move the needle is expensive.
What Affects the Price?
Several things drive the cost of life coaching:
Experience and specialization: A coach who specializes in executive leadership or career transitions will typically charge more than a general life coach.
Session length and frequency: Weekly 60-minute sessions cost more than biweekly 30-minute check-ins.
Format: 1:1 coaching costs more than group programs or workshops, which spread the cost across participants.
Location: In-person coaching in high cost-of-living areas (Seattle, New York, San Francisco) tends to run higher than virtual-only coaches.
What's included: Some coaches bundle messaging support, resources and accountability check-ins. Others add this on through separate sessions or charges.
What Does Life/Accountability Coaching Cost at La Tribu?
Here's what working with Andrés Villalba at La Tribu looks like:
8-Week Momentum Builder — $175/month: An 8-week structured program. Weekly sessions, accountability check-ins and a framework you can use after it ends. This is a great place to start if you aren't sure you're ready to commit to coaching.
Essential Coaching — $350/month: Ongoing monthly coaching with weekly sessions. For clients who are ready to commit to the process and see change.
Business & Entrepreneur Coaching — Custom: Scoped to your business and goals. Weekly or biweekly sessions plus quarterly planning. Rates depend on scope.
Unpack It Workshop — $350 (1:1): A single focused workshop that uses the Backpack framework and the 3 Boxes Method to help you sort through what's slowing you down. This is the fastest way to experience the La Tribu approach.
Is Life Coaching Worth the Cost?
That depends on what you do with it. Coaching is not a passive experience. You don't show up, get advice, and leave changed. The ROI on coaching is almost entirely a function of how honest you're willing to be and how consistently you show up to the work.
What I've seen consistently: the people who get the most out of coaching are the ones who treat it as an investment in a specific outcome not a subscription to feeling better about their situation.
If you're not sure whether coaching is right for where you are right now, the lowest-risk move is a single session or a workshop before committing to an ongoing program. The Unpack It workshop is designed exactly for that.
